I’m on day three of my fast. I call this the hump day. I’m not hungry because I’m drinking my shakes every three hours or so but I really want to chew… I’m glad it’s late and I’ll be sleeping soon. After three days of fasting, I’m sleeping so much be

tter, awaking rested, tons of energy all day long, feeling less stress.. so many benefits to a fast and detox. I’ve lost 10 pounds. I’m feeling great! Please feel free to share your experience with the group. Everyone benefits by hearing other peoples experiences.

Just in case you were wondering why we detox and fast…

You are doing a nutritional detox/fast. You drink shakes that have been specially designed to deliver protein, fat and carbs in liquid form along with all the nutrients, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals needed by the liver. You also benefit as the shakes do not irritate or tax your system. Toxins are released consistently with all the necessary support to neutralize them successfully. A huge benefit of this detox/fast is that it provides protein that can attract some of the circulating toxins, thereby preventing them from reentering the tissues.

At every moment of every day your cells are breathing, working and generating waste. Your body is constantly performing an enormous number of functions every single second of every single day.

The trillions of cells in our body is like a miniature factory that manufactures a product, from hormones to cartilage, hair, enzymes, protein, melatonin, serotonin, and so many more. Sugar from food and oxygen fro air are what each cell uses for power. Sugar is burned to release energy. It also generates waste that must get thrown out. The waste is released into the circulatory system and then others cells capture them to neutralize them. This process makes these waste molecules nontoxic which can be safely filtered out of the body by the skin via sweat, the lungs as carbon dioxide, the kidneys as urine, the liver which delivers bile to the intestines, and the intestines directly as fecal matter. Getting rid of waste is as critical to life as producing energy. Without it, waste products accumulate and become so toxic that life would end. Detoxification is an ongoing activity that our bodies are designed for.

Energy is as precious a resource for your body as it is for the planet. Our energy expenditure is called metabolism. Each cell uses fuel to make energy so that it can do the function it is designed to do. Some cells have functions that cost more energy to run. Our bodies have a finite amount of energy to budget for all of it’s functions. Energy reserves are limited so the body prioritizes it’s distribution. If it spends too much energy in one area, it has to cut back somewhere else to compensate. There is no energy bank in our system. When the energy reserves start running low, it has to stop activity. This is when you feel fatigued or sleepy.

The body’s detoxification process is not of the highest priority. It’s very common for the body to put detox on hold. The body will naturally begin detoxing again when the crisis management is over. The burden and demands of our everyday life is too big. We are drawing on our energy reserves to combat our crazy work schedules, mental and emotional stress, and slew of other environmental factors. The largest one iof all is the digestion of food. Contrary to the assumption that food is where we get our energy from, the fact is quite the reverse. The processing of foods by the body is the biggest energy drain. Anything that we put in our system must be processed when it arrives in the stomach. Most of what we throw in has minimal nutritional value so all the energy we invest in its chewing, swallowing, digesting, and absorbing gives minimal return. We live our lives in energy deficit. By doing a detox/fast, we are helping our bodies to allocate the necessary energy to heal!

Keep up the great work!
